After opened League III: Shattered Relics last weekthe Old School RuneScape team is made some tweaks based on player feedback on strategic limitations including skill unlock costs and other fixes. Also featuring player feedback is the idea of a new minigame being planned that, if voted on, could be added in March.

League III received some hotfixes last week and today some more downtime is scheduled. Since this batch was released, many players have tried it out and provided feedback. Among the responses was that getting the best segments and setting up the effects took too long and some of the mission requirements couldn’t be achieved as desired. So the team is changing the skill unlock cost, adjusting the boss unlocking cost, and reducing some of the quest requirements and putting the effect on the activation value requirement.

Also capable at work is a mini-game that was suggested in December 2020 as a potential new training method. Now that the team has finalized the lore and published a description of this mini-game that will emphasize Runecraft training. They are calling it Guardians of the Rift and it will be available for public voting soon.

Guardians of the Rift will be central to the Great Guardian trying to close the rift, with Rift Guardians that you can continue to charge for, create more stuff later, and otherwise help protect the Great Guardian. Eventually, the Abyssal creatures will begin to spawn and attack the Great Guardian. From there, you’ll have to work on crafting the right Runes, keeping all your aids energized, and keeping the Great Guardian strong. Stronger mobs will also start appearing and another strategic phase will begin, as if the Rift Guardians go down they will block the way but you can mine them for Essence and they will disappear. Get through the entire minigame, this won’t be unbalanced, so it will only happen once per world at a time and reap some substantial Runecrafting XP. However, you will get Runecrafting XP throughout all rounds.
