Oldham accident: men, 20 and 21, die after ‘horrific’ car-motorcycle collision

Two men traveling on a motorbike died after an accident involving an off-road vehicle in Oldham, with Greater Manchester Police describing the fatal collision as a “horrific incident”.

Oldham: Emergency services and air ambulance at the scene of the fatal crash

Two men have died in a collision between a car and a motorcycle in Oldham.

The victims, aged 20 and 21, were riding the off-road Suzuki motorcycle when the fatal accident occurred around 11 a.m. today.

They suffered life-threatening injuries and died at the scene Manchester evening news reports.

The driver of the Ford 4×4 stopped at the scene and assisted the police in their investigation.

The relatives of the victims are informed and are supported by specialized officials.

No arrests were made and anyone who witnessed the collision or may have driven around and has dashcam footage is being urged to go to the police.

The impact triggered a major rescue service response, including one ambulanceAmbulance and several police cars.

Crews from Greater Manchester Fire Brigade were also on site.

Police remained at the scene in High Barn Street until around 2pm this afternoon.

Earlier this morning, several officers could be seen in a small area shielded by fire brigade screens and emergency vehicles.

One woman told the MEN: “I saw it on Facebook seconds after it happened. A woman said there had been a crash and the helicopter was coming, so there were a lot of people looking out for it.”

Another said: “I just walked by about an hour ago and saw the crash. It looks pretty bad, I’m so sorry for everyone involved.”

Sergeant Phil Shaw of our Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “My thoughts go out to the families of the two young men who tragically lost their lives today following this horrific incident.

A spokesman for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At 11:00 this morning (Friday 15.

“A fire engine from Chadderton was on site where firefighters worked alongside colleagues from Greater Manchester Police and the North West Ambulance Service.”
