Olivia Bowen: I thought I was going to be a trash mom before I gave birth to my son

Olivia Bowen said she felt she would be “trash as a mother” and never thought she would breastfeed before giving birth to son Abel.

The 28-year-old Love Island star gave birth to her first child with her husband Alex – whom she met on the dating show – on June 10.

In an Instagram post, Bowen discussed her experience of becoming a mother during World Breastfeeding Week.

Alongside pictures of herself breastfeeding her son, she wrote: “I never thought I would breastfeed.

“I think where I felt like I wasn’t a mother before Abel was born, I really doubt it worked for me and I don’t even feel comfortable thinking about it. it!

“I’d say that made me a little nervous. You all know I wasn’t sure about having children, and it was mainly because I felt so trashy as a mother, not the mother’s bones in my body before Abel.

“Fast forward to when Abel was born and the first time he was hospitalized, it couldn’t be more natural. The bond and connection I felt with him while feeding my baby, I will forever be grateful for.

“It’s not always easy, the first few weeks of emotions are no joke. I had a couple of days where he didn’t latch on properly & I felt like a complete failure, I felt like I failed and failed him – even though I told myself I wasn’t preoccupation with breastfeeding.

“The first week I was squeezing my plump breasts in the bath, I woke up with wet sheets because of a leak and I was constantly worried about how much he had fed and was it good enough? !

“I believed I would stop breastfeeding after a month, then told myself 3 months and now I’m saying 6 months! Doesn’t feel like it.

“When his little eyes look up at me & when he is sleepy and content. Close to you who I am !!!! I would never have imagined writing this. “
