THE Omicron variant is causing a number of unusual symptoms as it spreads across the UK – one of which could be a case of nasty diarrhea.

With earlier strains of coronavirus like Delta, symptoms are often more recognizable such as a persistent cough, fever, and loss of taste and smell.

Even so, Omicron is more difficult to identify because it has been found to mix with other symptoms of a seasonal illness such as the flu or the common cold.

This variant also raises other concerns due to the high transfer rates.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC), based in the US, has now said people with Covid can have “a wide range of symptoms”.

This can range from a slightly stuffy nose to difficulty breathing, to which urgent medical attention is needed.

A series of positive studies show that Omicron is milder than other strains, with data showing a 50 to 70% lower risk of hospitalization than Delta.

Health officials have repeatedly said the Covid booster shots protect against Omicron and offer the best chance of weathering the pandemic.

According to the CDC, if you have diarrhea when you go to the bathroom, this could be a sign that you have the Omicron variant.

According to NBC Chicago, people with compromised immune systems are more likely to experience diarrhea and other digestive symptoms.

John Hopkins Medicine indicates that there is about a 20% chance of having diarrhea as a symptom soon after being infected with the virus.

It is important to remember that this is not the only symptom with common signs being fatigue, shortness of breath, muscle and body aches, as well as headache or sore throat.

But other symptoms in the top 20 include a hoarse voice, chills or shivers, brain fog, feeling dizzy, skipping meals and feeling depressed.

Although Omicron may currently be the most common type, people can still get other strains.

The most A common symptom of Covid is loss of appetite, which affects 24% of patients, according to research published in the US Lancet Medical journal.

Nausea and acid reflux have been reported in 18%, respectively, while diarrhea affects 15% of people recovering from Covid.

Less common symptoms include bloating, reported by 14% of patients, and belching, which is something that affects 10%.

Vomiting was a problem for 9%, while stomach pain was present in 7% of people discharged from hospital after Covid.

Meanwhile, blood in the stool is a very rare side effect that only two patients reported.
