Thanks to Netflix, a remarkable romantic comedy duo return for another original film from the subscription-streaming service. Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston first starred together in 2011’s Just Go With It and again in 2019 for Netflix’s Murder Mystery March.
While the timing for a new mystery movie is pretty opportune considering Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery continues to be a smash hit. However, the first Murder Mystery was a huge hit in its own right, with the film garnering 83 million views when it premiered. With that in mind, it makes perfect sense that Netflix is putting together a sequel.
As for the cast, Netflix fansite What’s on Netflix reports that only Adam Sandler and Jennifer Anniston are returning for the sequel, reprising their roles of Nick and Audrey Spitz. However, they are joined by Mark Strong (Kingsman: The Secret Service) and Adeel Akhtar (Enola Holmes).
The plot is pretty vague at this point, and all we know is that Nick and Audrey get caught up in kidnapping the groom from the wedding they’re attending. Murder Mystery 2 continues a long line of Netflix original films starring Adam Sandler, the first being 2016’s The Ridiculous 6.
The top Sandler film in terms of critical attention, Uncut Gems is technically a Netflix Original since it was exclusively available on the platform outside of the United States. If you can’t wait for the latest Adam Sandler movie in a few months, there are plenty of movies available in the Netflix library to keep you busy.
