Open-world zombie MMO The Day Before gets gameplay trailer

We haven’t seen or heard much about Fntastic’s upcoming zombie MMO The Day Before in a while. However, as the release date approaches (Jan personal computer) the developer introduced a new gameplay.

This trailer, shared as part of CES 2023, shows the game using Nvidia’s latest in-game ray tracing technology. It’s a bite-sized little teaser that kicks off with a few sweeping shots showing the destruction and misery that remains in The Day Before’s version of a post-pandemic America.

Scenes are then shown in which the player character guns down his enemies, embarks on stealthy journeys into dark rooms and through questionable corridors, and of course, a teeming zombie horde. You can see it for yourself below.

Developer Ftastic made headlines last year when, following the delay of The Day Before, it was revealed that the company was asking for volunteers to work on its games.

At that point, it stated that its culture was “based on the idea of volunteering” and as such, “every Fntastic member is a volunteer” — paid or unpaid. This phrasing raised some eyebrows, leading to Fntastic defending its decision to use unpaid volunteers to develop its games. The company then went on to say it had plans to hire some of its volunteers for full-time work.

“Here’s a good example: recently one of our first volunteers from the Netherlands became a full-time internal volunteer (employee) and more are being hired,” the developer told Eurogamer in June.
