The 94th edition of the annual Academy Awards got underway on Sunday night with an impressive performance by Beyonce.
Queen Bey, 40, was not at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood and instead went to the tennis court in Compton when she performed the ornate King Richard song Be Alive.
She was introduced by tennis star sisters Venus and Serena Williams, who focused on the hit movie alongside their father.
The song was Beyonce’s first Academy Award nomination and she was joined by dancers and an orchestra in the same blue tennis ball match.
She began by telling her crew, “I want you to let these people know where we are.”
“Compton City,” they replied, in the style of “Love California” by Tupac Shakur.
And fans quickly discovered Beyonce and Jay-Z’s 10-year-old daughter Blue Ivy was in the singer’s backing group.
One fan took to Twitter to express their delight at the singer’s opening song with her daughter, simply snapping a picture of the little boy and writing: “Is that Blue Ivy Carter in front and center?!!! She’s employed!! #Oscars.”
Another wrote: “Beyoncé is amazing as always and Blue Ivy is growing up so much.”
And a third wrote: “Blue Ivy in Beyoncés’ performance at the 2022 Oscars. She’s as gorgeous as mom’s #Oscars.”
Beyonce impressed viewers with her stellar performance as she shined throughout and thanked Compton during her rehearsal.
This is the third time the Crazy In Love singer has performed at the ceremony.
She took the stage for the first time in 2005 performing live on many of the best nominated original songs, including “Learning to Be Lonely” from The Phantom of the Opera.
In 2007, she performed another medley of songs. Her performance later featured a series of Dreamgirls songs alongside her supporting actors Jennifer Hudson, Anika Noni Rose and Keith Robinson.
And fans were also impressed with her 2022 performance.

Another wrote: “Beyoncé’s legendary vocal performance at #Oscars 2022.”
A third said: “Beyoncé is a top performer, she never surprises me with the #Oscars.”
Her song was nominated in Best Original Song and opposite Dos Oruguitas from Encanto, No Time to Die by James Bond – written and performed by Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell – Somehow You Do from Four Good Days, and Down to Joy from Belfast, written by Van Morrison.
