OTI Mabuse has a secret weapon in its quest to become a top TV presenter – Dermot O’Leary.
I can reveal that the former X Factor host was and Oti tips as she prepares for her first show, the ITV talent and dating contest, Romeo and Duet.
Given Dermot’s pedigree in the industry, she couldn’t have chosen a better mentor.
A TV source said: ‘Oti and Dermot have had a great friendship.
“He has always been interested in helping aspiring hosts and has been given some important instructions by Oti. All of which have been very well received.
“It gave her the perfect boost before her the first archival performance. ”
Serious star Oti is hoping for a smooth transition into presenting after she takes on the role of talent show judge on ITV shows The Masked Singer and Dancing On Ice, as well as The Greatest Dancer by BBC1.
Romeo and Duet, which began filming last month, sees Oti play matchmakers for singles trying to find potential love matches.
Singers have only one song to entice a single man down from a balcony to meet them in person.

The hard part is that they can only hear their voices – not see what they look like.
The new couples then begin a “duet day” to learn a song, before returning to perform with other favorite couples.

BBC1’s Graham Norton show on February 18 will feature a regular cast of celebrity guests.
They include Oscar-nominated Brit Andrew Garfield, Dawn French, Magic Mike hunk Channing Tatum and top comic Rob Beckett.

Live semi-final in sight of Eur
POSITIVE news for BBC Three has arrived in the form of Eurovision.
The show’s live semi-finals will be transferred to the channel from May this year.
They were last shown on BBC Three in 2016, and this time Scott Mills and Rylan Clark will be commenting from the PalaOlimpico Stadium in Turin.
Rylan said: “I am delighted to be back at Eurovision 2022 and even more excited to be on BBC Three.
“Myself and Scott love the show, and after a couple of years away from the real Eurovision bubble, we’re both anxious to bring you ALL the live action of the semi-finals.”
The May 10 and May 12 semi-finals determine who will join France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK in the Finals, on BBC One on May 14.
Jamie in Oprah piled up
JAMIE Oliver has revealed that he almost ran over the talk show queen Oprah Winfrey on his motorcycle while making a guest appearance on her daytime series Mid Years Though.
He told the Jimmy’s Farm podcast: “I did the recipe and they wanted me to ride the scooter – then you would practice it.
“The next time I did it was in front of 600 spectators.
“There was a family where I cooked for the week and then Oprah.
“What no one told anyone was that the cleaners came in after checking and polishing the floor.
“I jumped in, hit the brakes and nothing happened. I went towards Oprah and I didn’t stop. I flew off the bike.
“Her security thought I was trying to get her out. He’s quite hot-tempered.
“The lawyers were obsessed that I was going to try to sue them and I said like ‘I don’t care, I’m fine’.”

British AMAZING Menu host Andi Oliver doesn’t understand why the younger generation is so interested in labeling themselves.
She claims gender changed as she got older.
“We’ve spent most of our lives trying to divest brands — men, women, boys, girls,” Andi said on the How To Fail podcast.
“My brother used to wear all my dresses.
“People are pretty interested in a brand now – and I find it a bit tiresome, I have to say.”
