Drivers would be forgiven for scratching their heads in confusion over their local locations today.
The government’s repeal of the excise tax did little to reduce fuel prices and in two cases the actual prices were higher today even though the tax was implemented at midnight Wednesday.
Taxes on gasoline are cut by 20c a liter and for diesel by 15c.

In Malahide, Circle K forecourt sold its regular petrol for 204.9ca litres and 213.9ca litres for premium petrol on Wednesday. A liter of regular diesel sells for 214.9 and premium diesel sells for 223.9 a liter.
But by Thursday, prices had dropped 9 cents a liter to 195.9 for regular gasoline and 204.9 for premium gasoline.
Diesel prices fell 33c/liter for regular diesel to 181.9/liter and 190.9/liter for premium diesel.
In neighboring Portmarnock, the local Texaco company sold both gasoline and diesel for 205.9 liters on Wednesday.
As of today, the price of a liter of gasoline is down 13c to 192.9 a liter while the price of diesel is down six cents a liter to 199.9.
In the next village in Baldoyle, the local frontrunner Maxol is selling a liter of gasoline for 204.9 and a liter of diesel for 209.9.
Through Thursday, the price of a liter of gasoline fell 12 cents a liter to 192.9 while the price of diesel fell 10c a liter to 199.9 a liter.
The Top forecourt at the busy Blake’s Cross intersection in Lusk sold a liter of petrol for 204.9 and diesel for 209.9 on Wednesday.
By Thursday, the actual price of a liter of gasoline had risen 3 cents a liter to 207.9 while the price of a liter of diesel fell 7 c a liter to 202.9.
