It’s now tumbling by house at 6,000mph on a direct collision course with the moon. It’s set to strike at 12.15pm on March 4.

Specialists say the college bus-sized piece of house junk may trigger an enormous shockwave, defacing the Man in the Moon crater sample which has stared down at Earth for billions of years.

Dr Franck Marchis, senior astronomer at America’s SETI Institute, stated folks would see the affect as a “sudden burst” within the sky.

He added: “It will be terribly unhappy if this affect altered the ­well-known ‘face’ which has stared down at this planet endlessly.”

The rocket was launched in 2015 by 50-year-old entrepreneur Musk’s SpaceX firm. 

It took the DSCOVR local weather observatory into orbit 1,000,000 miles from Earth. It was then meant to fly again and deplete within the Earth’s environment.

Historical Romans believed the face within the moon was that of a person banished for stealing a sheep.

Medieval Christians claimed it was Cain exiled there for murdering brother Abel. Jews believed it was the picture of Jacob.

David Rothery, professor of ­planetary geosciences on the Open College, identified Falcon 9 was not sterile.

He stated: “What we should always fear about is contaminating the moon with residing microbes.

“It will not be proper to place one other ecosystem in danger by ­introducing organisms from Earth.”
