Overwatch 2 Beta to get Support Hero changes, new maps, additional characters and more

Thatsurveillance 2 The beta is running as we speak, and if you participate, you’ll be happy to hear that more content is coming.

This content will include the addition of new heroes, additional features, balance updates, new maps, and changes to Support Heroes.

According to Blizzard, the main goal of the first beta is to test the move to 5v5, the new maps and push game mode, the overall balance and build, and server stability. However, the team will also work on balance and make quick adjustments to hero power levels, and the first beta balance patch will be released in a few days.

Blizzard added that the current beta is only the first test for the future PvP release. Until then, there are plans to add more content, including heroes, maps, and features. It was also stated that a significant amount of polish and refinement would be added in the form of an improved user interface, bug fixes, and more.

While many testers have told Blizzard that they want to play ranked mode in the PvP beta, the studio has made the decision not to include it for now due to the current limited player base and because it is planning “significant overhauls” to the core Ranked and competitive mode systems. These are not yet ready for large-scale public testing.

When it comes to game balance and Support Heroes, the current beta and future testing will be important in identifying and addressing balance issues. Currently, the studio feels that most heroes have good overall range across different skill levels. However, Blizzard says it has seen some outliers that it will fix with the upcoming patch.

With Support Heroes, the studio found that players feel like both tank and damage players have more new content to enjoy and explore in the beta. So, over the long term, Blizzard believes the best way to address the issue is to “add exciting new Support Heroes to the game,” and that’s part of the plan. In the meantime, the team is experimenting with the idea of adding new and refreshed abilities for some existing support heroes. These kind of ideas could be used later in this first beta test but the second test is more likely.

Beta testers can also expect changes to the scoreboard screen. It displays important statistics in real time for all players in the game. These stats include Eliminations, Assists, Fatalities, Damage, Mitigation, and Healing. The information is presented in a new layout that reflects other competitive games and sports. With the change, testers will see that the medal and fire systems have been removed from the game.

However, the team may consider an overhaul of the Fire system to complement the scoreboard system at some point in the future, as Blizzard believes it can provide “excitement for high-performing players.”

The Overwatch 2 PvP closed beta went live at the end of April, giving many a chance to see the game and all of its changes.
