After an unbelievable five-year wait since Paddington 2 was eliminated in 2017, there’s finally a major update to the third season in the form of a new director.

Fans of the franchise are used to long waits, as the original film was announced back in 2007 but wasn’t released until 2014.

Long waits for animated sequels are not uncommon, as 2018’s award-winning sequel to Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse will take five years to launch in 2023 – Across The Spiderverse.

Fans were last seen seeing Paddington sharing a marmalade sandwich and a cup of tea with the Queen during the Platinum Celebration.

Now he is leaving Buckingham Palace for an adventure thousands of miles away.

Who directed Paddington 3?

Paul King, who directed the first two films, has a busy schedule, with the director currently overseeing Wonka, the prequel to Charlie And The Chocolate Factory starring Timothee Chalamet.

As a result, he was not available for the third Paddington outing, with the StudioCanal producers having chosen Dougal to take over the project.

“As a huge fan of the first two films, I’m excited (if not a little scared) to continue the Paddington story,” Dougal said.

“It’s a big responsibility, but all my efforts will be focused on making a third movie that celebrates the love so many people have for this very special bear.”

Paul added: “After 10 years working on the Paddington films, I feel unreasonably protective of the little bear and I am delighted that Dougal will be there to hold him as he embarks on his adventure. third on the big screen.

“Dougal’s work is never less than awe-inspiring: funny, beautiful, sincere, imaginative and completely original.

Aunt Lucy once asked us ‘Please take care of this bear.’ I know Dougal will do it admirably.”

What is the release date for Paddington 3?

There is no release date yet for Paddington In Peru, although pre-production is well underway for now.

Full production is set for late 2022, which should put the film on schedule for a 2024 or possibly even 2025 release.

Which cast will return in Paddington 3?

Ben Whishaw will return as Paddington Bear

Ben Whishaw will return as the voice of Paddington, as even though the sequel has taken a long time to materialize, he’s still close to the bear.

He’s worked with StudioCanal again on the Nickelodeon animated series The Adventures of Paddington, which will keep fans on edge as they await season three.

When voicing the character, he said, “It’s disappointing. Sometimes a parent points me to a kid and I can see the confusion on their face, because how could I be the one?” Paddington okay?

“It means nothing to them. And to try to explain that I am the voice of Paddington is even harder for their minds to understand. Bless them.”

He voiced the role as part of the Queen’s Platinum Year sketch, so he clearly wants to continue being a part of the franchise.

The Brown family, led by Hugh Bonneville and Sally Hawkins, also appears to be making a comeback.

However, since this is set in Peru, it is unknown who could have accompanied Paddington there, if any.

There could be a whole new cast of characters revolving around Paddington in the sequel.
