Paignton Green amusement park: Man found unconscious as police and ambulance plane rushed to the scene

A man in his early 20s was on one of the rides at the Paignton Green Fair when he fell unconscious, prompting emergency services and an ambulance to be called to the scene

A man has passed out while enjoying a fairground ride, prompting emergency services to rush to the scene.
Bettors should enjoy a late spring evening at the fair under blue skies as they enjoyed the rides on offer.
However, the fair took a tragic turn when an air ambulance along with other emergency vehicles rushed into the Paignton Green Fun Fair tonight.
A man in his early 20s passed out while riding one of the rides, leading to the emergency.
During the trip itself there was no accident and the young man’s family was informed of what had happened.
An eyewitness said: “There was a major incident at the fair on the green and the fair has closed”.
Pictures from the scene show the air ambulance where it landed nearby.
A spokesman for the Anderton & Rowlands Fun Fair released a statement on the incident.
It states: “Today at around 6 p.m. an incident occurred on one of our journeys. The passenger, a man in his early 20s, passed out while operating the ride.
“When the ride stopped, he was placed in the recovery position and an ambulance called. There was no accident or defect on the trip.
“We are in contact with the boy’s family. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing you again soon.”
The spokesman also confirmed that the funfair is expected to reopen tomorrow.
Devon and Cornwall Police and the South Western Ambulance Service have been asked for comment.
