Parents of 6-year-old Sandy Hook victim say Alex Jones made life hell.

The mother of a 6-year-old killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre often spoke directly to InfoWars host Alex Jones and testified Tuesday that the right-wing conspiracy theorist’s lies about the attack being a hoax , she feared for her life and increased her grief.

“It’s unbearable to have shot a 6-year-old son in front of his classroom and you don’t think you’re going to survive and then to have someone keep up the lie that it was a hoax, it was a false one flag,” Scarlett Lewis said during her testimony. “I don’t think you understand the fear you are maintaining, not only towards the victim’s family, but towards our family, our friends and all the survivors of this school.”

Jesse Lewis was killed along with 19 of his first grade classmates and six educators after a gunman entered their school in Newtown, Connecticut on December 14, 2012.

Lewis and Jesse’s father, Neil Heslin, is among several Sandy Hook families that have filed lawsuits against Jones, arguing that his claims that the attack was a hoax led to years of abuse from his supporters. The parents, both of whom testified Tuesday, have ordered Jones to pay $150 million for defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

“The ripple effect is huge because of the platform you have. And the fear that comes from that stops the healing and grieving process,” Lewis said during her testimony to Jones.

Lewis testified that she had received death threats and that her family and friends had also been harassed by Jones’ supporters.

Lewis described an incident where a person pulled into her driveway on a Connecticut Christmas morning and began taking pictures of her and her home. She said she did not feel safe and had to keep a gun at her home because of her surviving son.

“I’m a single mom responsible for the safety of my two sons and I couldn’t protect either one so I will protect my surviving son,” Lewis said in an emotional statement.

Jones, who has portrayed the lawsuit as an attack on his First Amendment rights, also took the stand Tuesday and told Lewis and Heslin that he “never intentionally tried to hurt you.”

However, later in his testimony, he said his views on Sandy Hook stemmed from signs he saw that it was a “synthetic” event manipulated by outside forces.

He also accused the “corporate media” several times during his testimony, saying they lie and misrepresent truths, leading him to question everything reported.

Heslin, Jesse’s father, told jurors that the pain of losing his son was compounded by Jones’ claim that he never existed.

“It’s very important for me to have this trial and testimony today to hold Alex Jones accountable,” he said. Statements from both Infowars and Alex Jones have repeatedly tarnished Jesse.”

The crux of the process is a 2017 episode of “Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly,” in which Heslin appeared and challenged Jones’ denial of the shooting. Heslin says in the episode, “I held my son with a bullet hole through the head.”

Jones and another Infowars host, Owen Shroyer, later implied that Heslin lied.

“I cannot even describe the last nine and a half years of hell that I and others have endured because of Alex Jones’ carelessness and recklessness.”

Judges in Texas and Connecticut have already entered default judgments against Jones, finding him liable for defamation in pursuing the Sandy Hook hoax lawsuit. Jones’ trial did not proceed because he failed to respond to court orders and release documents.

That process began last week and is taking place in Austin, where Jones’ Infowars website and parent company are based.

“My goal is to hold Alex Jones accountable and get out of this courthouse very soon with all of this behind me and moving on with my life.”

Jones was not in court during Heslin’s testimony, while going live on his show and mocking Heslin by calling him “slow” and “on the spectrum.” He said the father was “manipulated by some very bad people.”

Lawyers for Lewis and Heslin admitted a recording of Jones’ comments Tuesday morning into evidence and played it to the jury.

Jones will continue his testimony on Wednesday. Outside the jury’s ears, Jones was admonished by Judge Maya Guerra Gamble for violating orders that said he was not allowed to speak about his finances and for offering answers that strayed too far from the questions asked.

“If you come back tomorrow to testify, again, without further ado,” the judge said. “Just answer the question put to you.”

YouTube, Facebook and Twitter have all removed InfoWars and Jones from their platforms.

Jones’ Facebook pages or InfoWars had a total of more than 2.5 million followers and Jones’ YouTube account had 2.4 million subscribers when the accounts were removed in 2018.

Jones had about 900,000 followers on Twitter and InfoWars had about 430,000 when those were removed, also in 2018.
