Pascal Gross celebrates Brighton winners against Leeds

Pascal Gross has revealed he was hesitant to celebrate his win for Albion.

But he was delighted with the breakthrough in the 1-0 win over Leeds.

Gross drilled home from the edge of the box with a finish very similar to what he thought won a home game against Southampton last season.

On that occasion he was unlucky to be denied by a highly controversial VAR offside call.

Mike Dean checked for offside against Danny Welbeck and then gave the go-ahead from Stockley Park.

Gross was seen in replays asking Welbeck something – possibly if he was offside.

When asked if he was worried that would be ruled out, he said: “Yeah, a bit.

“Last season I scored a winning goal that was just offside.

“Since then I always wait until I can celebrate.”

Albion should have been leading at half-time but Gross said he never worried that missed chances would cost dearly.

He added: “If you let it go in your head, it can happen.

“But I thought we were the better team, we played well.

“I thought if we can continue that in the second half, we’ll win the game.” Pascal Gross celebrates Brighton winners against Leeds
