Train passengers have fretted at having to sit among piles of rubbish in a first-class carriage, with pictures showing rubbish strewn on a rail service.
TransPennine has now apologized to commuters who were forced to sit in first class carriages where rubbish appeared to have been thrown around and not cleaned up, reports said YorkshireLive.
Pictures sent to the branch on Saturday (March 19) by a customer on board the 11.13pm Manchester Piccadilly to Sheffield train show “tea making items” and other debris strewn on the floor of the first class carriage are.
The video was sarcastically titled “Lovely in First Class”.
TransPennine Express (TPE) said it believes the rubbish and “food items” were thrown around the carriage by passengers.

A passenger on board the train said on Saturday night: “It was absolute chaos, I couldn’t believe the state of things. This was the last train of the day from Manchester to Sheffield but I still didn’t expect it to look like this.
“It looked like someone just threw all the tea making utensils on the floor and no one bothered to clean it up.”
In response, a TPE spokesman said the untidy car did not meet “the standard of cleanliness that we normally provide”.

“It’s really disappointing to see one of our carriages being treated in this way while rail users are throwing litter and food items on the ground,” they added.
TPE apologized to those who had traveled in the carriage and confirmed that it is now investigating what happened.
The spokesman added: “Keeping our trains as clean as possible is a priority for us and we currently have an enhanced cleaning program in place with a team of 150 colleagues working hard to create the best possible travel environment for our customers.”
