Sisu Clinic, the group of beauty clinics co-founded by entrepreneur Pat Phelan, opened eight new locations in the past year — and intends to open 20 more in the coming year.
Its expansion plan for 2023 will include costs of up to 10 million euros, with each site requiring an investment of 350,000 to 400,000 euros plus additional funds for marketing and advertising.
Phelan said the focus of expansion would be in the United States, where a large building is about to open near the Flatiron Building in New York.
Phelan said the company, which he founded in 2018 with physician brothers James and Brian Cotter, has a pipeline of US clinics in places like Miami, Brooklyn and Houston.
“And we’re currently looking at 10 more locations in New York,” he added.
Sisu currently has 22 locations in Ireland, the UK and the US.
While the US could be considered progressive in the field of cosmetic procedures, Phelan said Sisu has a number of advantages in the market. This includes the transparency of the pricing model.
He said new locations in Ireland are now sometimes profitable on an operational basis a month after opening. In the US, this is after 90 days.
Revenue increased 55 percent year-on-year from January to October 2022, with a younger age group now using its services.
“It’s gone from younger to better looking, which means the age has gone down a decade to mid-30s,” Phelan said.
