If you are playing the famous game of Grinding Gear Games Road exileand wish that using a controller would be officially supported, looks like you’re in luck. According to the latest post from the Community Group, driver support just stops ahead!
Road exile has been on consoles for about 5 years now, but controller support for PC is not officially available yet. Despite third-party keymapping, using a controller is not the simple plug-and-play experience players want, and Grinding Gear Games is finally finding a way to do something about it. In the upcoming 3.17.3 patch, PC players will be introduced to the Gamepad Beta, a new option in the settings that allows you to change the control input to use the game controller of your choice.
“Ever since Path of Exile launched on Xbox and PlayStation a few years ago, we’ve been looking forward to bringing controller support to the PC version. In the near future, we will be rolling out Patch 3.17.3 which introduces a Beta version of controller support.
To access this feature, connect a game controller to your PC, launch Path of Exile, and go to the Input Options panel. Change the Input Method option to “Gamepad (Beta)”. It will take effect without you having to relaunch Path of Exile. Please note that this feature is not currently available on Epic and macOS clients.”

Controller support will be in beta until expansion release 3.18.0. The addition of gamepad support is also good news for Road exile gamers looking to use their brand new Steam Deck to play the game of their choice. The PC controller support update is sure to make a lot of players very happy, as GGG continues to push ahead with a stellar 2022 that started off with a bang, like Road exile reached the highest number of concurrent players in February.
