While appearing at Hall H to promote “Star Trek: Picard,” the panel that included Stewart, McFadden, and executive producers Rod Roddenberry and Alex Kurtzman was asked about the possibility of a full reunion of the cast. Picard’s Enterprise Bridge in one final movie. While they neither confirmed nor denied that anything like it was indeed in the works, Admiral responded positively when Stewart called the possibility of another movie “a very exciting thing.” , attractive and worthwhile to achieve.” Kurtzman, one of the main architects of the Star Trek Universe at the moment, has said that the third installment of “Picard” is somewhat of this crew’s last big adventure that fans have come to love. He didn’t specify what he meant, but he also said, “Look, if you guys like it…”
Considering that “Star Trek: Nemesis” isn’t exactly the best note to hit theaters, it’s easy to see why fans would want another “Next Generation” movie. And if they could, of course the cast would love to get in on it. But just as most stars have flaws when questions like these come up, Stewart and Kurtzman gave the typical fan Q&A answer of “never say never”, keep things ambiguous enough that people won’t be disappointed if they don’t happen. As Picard himself put it so eloquently in the newly released trailer for the panel, “As long as you and your crew remain steadfast, you’ll never be without hope.” So depending on where this third season leaves them, fans can still hope that we get to see Picard and his crew again.
The third season of “Star Trek: Picard” is expected to premiere on Paramount+ at some point in 2023.
