Patsy Kensit will join the cast of EastEnders for a “short time” to play Emma Harding, Lola Pearce’s mother.
The 54-year-old actress is said to have begun filming the BBC One drama and will hit screens in January.
She previously appeared in Emmerdale as Sadie King and Holby City as Faye Morton, a role she reprized in 2019 on the film’s 20th anniversary, which left in 2010.
Kensit, who sang with pop group Eighth Wonder in the 1980s and also appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2015, said: “I was delighted to be visiting Walford to see this storyline.
“I’ve always dreamed of being in EastEnders. The cast, producer, writer, and crew were amazing, and I had a lot of fun. Thank you so much for having me.
Emma left Lola and her father when Lola was three years old and had never appeared on screen before.
EastEnders executive producer Chris Clenshaw said: “We are delighted to welcome the wonderfully talented Patsy to the EastEnders family.
“She is the perfect fit to take on the role of a long-awaited character that we know so little about.
“Soft-spoken and measured, Emma is on the one hand the complete opposite of her long-lost daughter Lola.
“But on the other hand, there is a striking similarity; success, self-control — if she says she’s going to do something, she’ll do it — and she’s a fighter, just like Lola.
“Through her whole life apart, Emma becomes desperate to make up for lost time, but her hidden sadness and guilt never leave the surface.
“The burden of losing her daughter has never left her, but will she have the courage to speak her shocking truth and reconnect with Lola or will it come too little and too late?

“Patsy’s portrait is bound to set off flares in Walford and wreak havoc on the Mitchell family.”
Actress Danielle Harold has played Lola, Billy Mitchell’s niece, from 2011-2015, back in 2019 to the present and has previously been at the center of thrilling storylines including bringing teenage pregnancy.
More recently, many viewers have seen Lola at the center of the brain tumor storyline, which also suggests the soap works in conjunction with Brain Tumor Research and Macmillan Cancer Support.
