Paul Pogba exposes the theft of world champion’s medal

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has revealed his world champion’s medal was among items stolen in a recent break-in at his home.

The France international spoke of his family’s “worst nightmare” last week after his home was broken into while his children slept in their bedroom.

The incident happened last Tuesday while Pogba was playing in United’s Champions League game against Atletico Madrid at Old Trafford and his children were in the care of their nanny.

Pogba said his family had been robbed of their “sense of safety and security”.

The 29-year-old has now given further details of his dismay, adding that the medal he received after winning the 2018 World Cup in France has been stolen.

Pogba said in a remark reported by L’Equipe: “There were jewels from my mother, my world champion medal.

“What scared me the most was that my two children were at home with the nanny during this incident.

“She overheard everything, called my wife and security, and then locked herself in a room with the boys. She was shocked for several days. The main thing is that my children are doing well.”

Pogba is now back with his national team and preparing for the forthcoming friendlies against Ivory Coast and South Africa.

He’s hoping the international break will refresh him after the slump and rejuvenate his game after questions about his form at Old Trafford.

Pogba, who is out of contract in the summer, said: “This break is really a breath of fresh air for me.

“I want to have playing time to get back into top form at the club. Wearing this jersey, which represents my country, fills me with pride more than ever.”
