Paul Pogba’s second spell at Manchester United finally seems to be coming to an end and the French midfielder could leave on a free transfer when his contract expires this summer

Paul Pogba appears to have finally sealed his move Manchester United – after the opening of transfer talks with Paris Saint-Germain.

The Frenchman’s contract expires at Old Trafford this summer, six years after the club broke their transfer record to return for their second stint juventus in an £89million deal. After another stunning season in a red shirt, Pogba is ready to leave after failing to reach an agreement to extend his contract.

Pogba, 29, has not won a trophy at United since the 2017 Europa League and the Red Devils are now in serious danger of missing out Champions League Qualifying after a humiliating 1-0 defeat in the relegation battle everton. The World Cup winner came off the bench at Goodison Park and only managed 14 First League begins this season after battling injuries.

And with summer fast approaching, Pogba is said to be plotting his exit from United, where uncertainty remains over the appointment of a permanent manager to replace him Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Corresponding FootMercatoPogba has already held meetings with PSG’s sporting director Leonardo, who has outlined his plan to sign the midfielder.

The report claims Pogba has hinted that he and his family would like to move to the French capital, where he would join Mauricio Pochettino and star alongside the likes of him Lionel Messi and Neymar. Former club Juventus have also been linked with a dive on a free transfer but they are unlikely to compete with PSG for his transfer.

Meanwhile, a contract extension with United also seems off the table after Pogba turned down a mammoth offer in October that would reportedly have made him England’s highest-paid player. Ex-United assistant manager Rene Meulensteen believes it’s time for Pogba to leave Old Trafford and wondered if he would ever actually be fit for the Premier League.

“Failure is a big word, but did it live up to expectations? I don’t think so,” said Meulensteen astrosport. “He knew what the expectations were when he came back to compete for the Premier League and Champions League.

“With the players around him or the system, everything didn’t click, does he actually fit into the Premier League? What frustrated me a bit is that Paul never really voiced his commitment to United. He never got out of there and said he will bring United back to where they belong.”
