Pausing during the pandemic, time is slipping through our fingers again

People name time, make time, kill it, save it. We have bedtime, teatime and bathtime. We feel it on our side, slowing down, speeding up, standing still, flying by, heavy on our hands or sliding through our fingers like Meryl Streep in Mamma Mia!

The start of the new school year introduces what I call the quantum time of parenting – moms and dads feel like they’ve given birth to children, taught them to talk, walk, read, write, brush their teeth, tie their shoelaces, bake a cake and ride a horse have to catch bikes, catch fish, walk dogs, and feed cats before being shipped off to elementary school, high school, college, or all together in about three weeks, after doing all sorts of things and nothing at all at the same time.
