A tribute to the late Bill Turnbull will be broadcast on Pet Classics on Guy Fawkes Night.
harlotte Hawkins took over the annual light music program on Classic FM from veteran broadcaster Turnbull, who passed away in September at the age of 66.
The last time BBC Breakfast presenter Turnbull presented the show was in 2019 when it was called Pet Sounds.
Hawkins, 47, temporarily takes over in 2021 due to his health and will reprise the role.
The broadcaster passed away at his home in Suffolk after a “challenging battle and commitment against prostate cancer,” his family said two months ago.
Speaking to the PA news agency about the takeover of the show and Turnbull, Hawkins said: “He’s just one of those who excel at their job.
“A great, brilliant journalist, an excellent presenter, but (he) also has a sense of humour, has great jokes and (he brightens up) the atmosphere at the same time.
“He’s a generous person to work with, and just knows the industry inside and out and I feel very fortunate to (have worked) with him.”
“The amazing thing is that humans have weird and wonderful pets and it seems to work on all kinds of animals,” says Hawkins.
“With Guy Fawkes Night coming up with all the fireworks, it can be a really stressful time.

“A lot of animals feel (a) really hard times, really nervous. It is a time when they are very stressed and that is really visible in your pet.
“So it’s a worrying time for a lot of owners wondering how to deal with that.”
She said: “She was absolutely in love with George Ezra.
“So I said to the producer: ‘Do you think he could sign a picture for her?’ Because she is a big fan.
“And, then they said: ‘Well (does she want to) ask him a question?’
“She is very excited about this. She wrote a whole list of questions for him.
“She absolutely loved it.”
“I thought she was going to have my job before I knew it,” Hawkins said. “However, she does not like early mornings.
“So that’s something that can save me.”
The former serious contestant who finished first in 2017 also had a message for the current celebrities on the dating show.
Hawkins, who usually wakes up at 2:45 a.m. to give his early-morning performance and then rehearses for 10 hours of dance, says: “It takes over your life in the amount of time you’re in.
“(You’re) able to learn ballroom dancing at that level (so) you really just have to embrace it, throw everything at it.
“You never know what week will be your last.”
Pet Classics will air on Fridays and Saturdays from 5pm to 9pm on Classic FM, available to listen on 100-102 FM, Global Player and ClassicFM.com.
