Police are investigating the disgusting attack that took place at Pittencrieff Park in Dunfermline on Monday night.
Suzi Ross, who works at the park, confirmed the sad news that a bird named Malcolm was killed.
She added that a second peacock, Louis, was badly injured outside the root but was still alive. The Daily Record reports.
Suzi wrote on Facebook: “Heartbroken I have to share extremely bad news with you all.
“At 11 p.m [on Monday] During the night I received a phone call telling me that one of the birds was injured.
“I ran up to the aviary and found that the aviary had been broken into. We found Louis in the outskirts. He was badly injured.
“The next few hours will be testing time to get him through. But we are hopeful.
“Malcolm was horribly tortured and killed. RIP my beautiful blue angel. I will miss you so much.”
