Peaky Blinders creator Stephen Knight has revealed that the film will revolve around an earlier ‘untold’ story from World War 2.
“I know exactly what is going to happen, I know what the story is and I’m writing at the moment,” he tell Metro last month.
“It’s a very specific story, based on a true story from the Second World War and will be told in a Peak way.”
Although things seem pretty worrisome for Tommy’s health, Knight has previously announced that Cillian Murphy’s character and his brother Arthur (played by Paul Anderson) will both be joining the big-screen adventure. .
When asked if Tommy and Arthur were still part of that world beyond series 6, Steven told Digital Spy: “Still can’t say. But the movie – yes.
“We’re going to make a movie – a feature film – that’s going to take the world on, and then when we move the world to Second Period, we’ll see where that takes us.
“Now it’s a situation where the world…you know, around the world, Peaky world, it has so much energy, so many followers, and such a huge fan base, to the point where you think: ‘Wow, just keep going.’ So we do.”

For years, Steven has stated that the TV series will end with the first air raid sirens sounding in Birmingham at the start of World War 2.
The original plans were to have seven show series and then one movie until Covid hit, but now such scenes can be witnessed in the upcoming, expected series. Launched in 2023.
“It’s always been England between wars – how lessons from a war are not learned and repeated,” said Knight. Empire in January of this year.
“It’s no longer the end of empires: we entered World War II and ended the war, there really were no empires. But I … revised its scope. Now it will go into and beyond the Second World War.
“Because I just think there’s energy available in the world for this, I want to keep it going and I want to see how this can go further.”
Cillian has previously denied any talk of a movie, claiming he’s left the door open but the show’s creators will decide.
“Mmm, talk,” Murphy said before the premiere of the final series. “I’m open to ideas. I think [Steven] want, but I haven’t read anything yet. “
Sadly, Helen McCrory did not appear in the final season after she tragically passed away last year.
However, her aunt Polly character is still an important part of the film and this will continue in the movie version.
“Human death is tragic. A character’s death is something you can deal with, and hopefully we’ve dealt with it in the right way,” Knight explained.
“Helen is so brilliant. When anything happens for the rest of the series, I want people to think, ‘What would Polly say?’ It’s like a family when someone dies, their opinion stays in the house. Polly’s opinion will last forever.”
When asked if this would continue to be included in the film, he added: “Absolutely true. She’s a fundamental part of Peaky; her rules of presence.”
One person who is certain to return in the film is legendary actor Stephen Graham, who joined the cast for the final series as Hayden Stagg.

Appearing halfway through the series, Stagg is visited by Arthur and Isiah after they realize he’s been stealing Tommy’s opium from one of the docks warehouses in Liverpool.
Opening about finally being able to cast Stephen, Knight said, “I’ve been wanting him for a long time and this series, we’ve got the schedule right. II is writing a character, set in the setting. is Liverpool Pier and I. know, it could just be him.”
The writer said it was “fantastic” to work with Stephen and that he would love to keep him a part of the Peaky Blinders universe “on”.
The show’s boss was also keen to get someone on the show who had worked with Stephen on a number of occasions.
He has talked about the possibility of bringing Vicky McClure into the movie – although the Line of Duty star revealed in 2019 that she’s auditioned for every series but never won a part.
“I really wanted her in there! I don’t know how we couldn’t do it,” said Knight. “I mean, she’s amazing and it’s up to anyone to say no because she’s brilliant.”

Although not a Brummie herself, Vicky is from the neighboring midland city of Nottingham and we know she can speak many accents.
Teasing a potential role for her in the big-screen adaptation, Steven added: “We’d love it and we’d put her in the movie if she’d do it!”
However, the show’s bosses did want to emphasize that they wanted fresh blood because “breaking new talent” is such a big part of the franchise.
They also don’t want fans to get bored with having the same cropper in every movie and TV series.
Knight told Digital Spy: “There’s a lot of people, a lot of great actors, that we’ve been talking to each other for the movie and for whatever comes next.
“But I think what we want to do is keep surprising people and keep discovering new talent. Because it’s all there and there’s a consistency – what we’re doing is finding get really good actors from the working-class background and tell that story. That’s what we’re trying to do.”
