Peaky Blinders: BBC release trailer for final series

Peaky Blinders looks set to welcome a familiar face back in the upcoming episode.

Season six of the much-loved show kicked off on February 27, and fans are now eagerly awaiting season three later this week.

New images released by the BBC show Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) walking in the fields with Esme (Aimee-Ffion Edwards) as well as riding horses together.

Esme was first introduced to the show on season one when she married Tommy’s brother, John Shelby (Joe Cole) as part of an arranged deal to mother his four children.

However, Esme kept herself from the sly dealings of the Shelby family and withdrew after John was murdered in season four.

Last Sunday, at the end of episode two, Tommy was heard calling and saying, “Madonna, give me the number I gave Esme Shelby Lee.”

It is thought that Tommy may be able to get back in touch with Esme because he thinks she can help heal his daughter Ruby.

As a child, Ruby saw ghosts and it was thought that someone might have placed a curse on her, causing Tommy to panic.

At the end of episode two, Ruby has a disturbing relapse and her drawings look messed up.

She told Lizzie’s mother that she could hear voices coming from the chimney and said, “The gray man is coming to me and dad.”

Can Esme help solve a possible gypsy curse? Or is there more grief on the horizon for Tommy and his family?

Peaky Blinders fans are also excited about the return of another recent familiar face in the form of Tom Hardy.

The British actor reprized his role as iconic Alfie Solomon when Tommy was seen walking through a distillery dark with flashing lights as he passed.

In the background was the famous opera Nessun Dorma and when Tommy reached the end of the line he was greeted by the cockney character.

Alfie humorously quips: “I’ve always thought of opera as screaming fat people”, when viewers are introduced to the character again.

As Alfie and Tommy engage in a tense discussion, the Brummie man says to his partner, “Alfie, I think I might have written your final script.”

Peaky Blinders Season 6 continues Sunday at 9pm on BBC One.
