Pelé in stable condition after treatment for colon tumor

Brazilian soccer star Pele was discharged from hospital on Thursday, Sao Paulo’s Albert Einstein Hospital said, three days after he was admitted for further treatment of a colon tumor.

Ele’s clinical condition is good and stable, doctors said.

The 81-year-old, who is widely regarded as the greatest footballer of all time, underwent surgery to remove the tumor in September 2021 and has been hospitalized regularly ever since.

In February, Pele was admitted to chemotherapy when a urinary tract infection was diagnosed, causing him to stay in the hospital longer than planned.

The former Brazil, Santos and New York Cosmos forward has had a number of health issues in recent years, including hip surgery that left him with recurring pain and difficulty walking unaided.

Pele has reduced his public appearances but remains active on social media. Pelé in stable condition after treatment for colon tumor
