Ring works best when it only alerts you about people on your property – not beyond

Part of the problem with an Amazon Ring doorbell is that it can be a bit overactive.

You may find that you get motion detection alerts even when nobody is actually on your property.

However, with some Ring Doorbell models, you have the option to solve this problem.

“Bird’s Eye Zones allows you to use radar technology to create custom airborne motion zones that can work with your camera’s motion zones to provide more accurate alerts,” Amazon explained.

“So you can be notified of activity in your front yard, not the sidewalk.

“When your radar-enabled device detects motion in a bird’s eye zone and also in one of your camera’s motion zones, a motion event is triggered.

“If motion isn’t detected by both views, the motion is ignored so you get the notifications that matter most to you.”

You can use Bird’s Eye Zones on the following Ring devices: Video Doorbell Pro 2, Floodlight Cam Wired Pro, and Spotlight Cam Pro.

How to set up Bird’s Eye Zones

First, go into your Ring app, then tap the gear icon in the corner of the selected device.

Now tap 3D Motion Settings > Birds Eye Zones > Set Up Feature.

Select the location where your doorbell is installed, tap Next, and then mark your device’s location.

Now tap Next and then adjust the angle of your device to the camera.

You may also need to choose the mounting height of the device if you are using a Floodlight Cam Wired Pro.

Once you proceed, you can tap Set up zones to customize the Bird’s Eye zones.

Tap Edit Zone and then adjust it by tapping and dragging the circles.

Finally, tap Done, name the zone and save your settings.
