A SAVVY phone tip could save you money on gas – and it’s easier to sort through than you think.

An account on TikTok wants to give its followers useful tips and has shared the hack.

@TaTechTips explained that a new feature in Google Maps allows people to choose a route that should use less fuel.

Once you’ve programmed your route, a pop-up should appear that says “Save fuel with route suggestions based on your engine type,” the video explains.

The man behind the account said: “If you’re looking to save a little money on your fuel this winter, Google Maps has a really cool new feature that will help you do that.”

Demonstrating the feature on an iPhone, he added, “So now when you type a destination into Google Maps, here’s this feature that gives you the best route to save on fuel.”

There’s then a button that asks you to select your fuel type – and based on that, the most efficient route should be shown.

“So next time you want to plan your route, check Google Maps to see the best fuel-saving options,” he adds.

It comes after Google recently rolled out a live feature for its maps and a new EV charging station finder.

Android and iPhone users in select cities can now open and view Google Maps Real world pop-up windows.

In hopes of making the app more useful, all buildings and streets are shown, making directions easier to follow.
