Here are three controversial iPhone changes you might want to tweak.

Lock screen notifications

The lock screen has been completely overhauled with the new iOS.

It’s now highly customizable, with widgets and customizable time and date fonts.

But iOS 16 also changed how notifications are displayed.

They now stack at the bottom of the lock screen instead of appearing at the top.

Luckily, there’s an iPhone hack to go back to the old look – if you prefer.

Just go to Settings > Notifications > View as.

And then you need to choose the List option.

It defaults to Stack in iOS 16, but List gives you a look that’s as close to iOS 15 as can be.

iPhone search button

If you don’t use the search function on iPhone, you’re missing out.

Just swipe down on the screen for instant access to almost anything on your Apple iPhone.

But if you’ve updated to iOS 16, you’ll find that there’s a new way to access search.

It will now appear as a button at the bottom of your home screen.

This is handy for some, but you might find yourself accidentally pressing it again and again.

If that’s the case, just turn it off.

Go to Settings > Home screen and toggle the search key switch to the off position.

It will then disappear from your home screen for good.

Turn off the always-on display

If you have an iPhone 14 Pro and an iPhone 14 Pro Max, you get a bonus iOS 16 feature.

It’s called Always-On-Display – yes, it does what it promises.

The feature works thanks to the screen with an extremely low refresh rate of 1 Hz, so you can keep the display active but dimmed.

It should have minimal impact on battery life, but you might find the drain too much.

And there’s a good chance you’ll find the entire feature distracting or annoying.

The good news is that turning off the always-on display is extremely easy.

Just go to Settings > Display & Brightness and toggle the Always On switch to the off position.

Once this is done, your iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max lock screen will work just like any other iOS 16 device.

And if you regret your decision, you can always turn Always On back on from the Settings app.
