People are realizing a huge mistake that millions of Ring doorbells can make

AMAZON’s Ring Doorbell can help homeowners keep track of activity around their home – but the feature can drain your battery.
The device notifies users of movements in your home through its built-in motion detector.
However, if the motion detector is too sensitive, users can be bombarded with ring notifications alerting them to nearby activity on their smartphone.
If Ring records a lot of activity that shows users video footage in the Ring app, it can drain the device’s battery.
However, what many users don’t know is that they can customize what is called the motion zone of their Ring device.
A motion zone is the area around the Ring device that you want it to keep an eye on.
The customizable feature allows users to define a specific area for their Ring device to cover while ignoring anything outside of that area.
If this range is too wide, it can accommodate too much activity that the user doesn’t need to be warned about, such as: B. People walking outside on the sidewalk or cars driving past their house.
To stop so-called “false positive” motion alerts, users can do so via the Ring app.
In the Ring app, tap the three lines in the top left of the screen.
Then tap Devices > select your device type > motion settings > Edit Motion Zones > default zone and Customize zone > Did > Save on computer.
Users can add up to three different motion zones in total.
Ring has advised users to pay attention to high-traffic areas when customizing motion zones.
Users can also schedule different motion zones to avoid being alerted on regular occurrences.
“If you know that your trash will be picked up every Tuesday between 7:30 and 7:45 a.m., you can set your motion detection to turn off during that time,” Ring’s experts explained.
Ring, owned by e-commerce giant Amazon, recently made this feature accessible to users with battery-powered devices.
