Trick #1 – Use QuickPath input

Apple’s swipe to text feature has been available since the release of iOS 13.

However, many people still do not know that it exists.

The tool, called QuickPath, lets you swipe between letters instead of tapping them to turn into a typewriter.

To use it, make sure you’re using iOS 13 or later, then just go to your Messages app and start swiping between letters on the keyboard.

Make sure you’re using Apple’s default keyboard and not a third-party keyboard that you downloaded yourself.

When you start typing a word, keep your finger on the keyboard and slide between letters.

So when you type “sun,” you would slide your finger to “S,” then to “U,” and finally to “N,” without removing your finger.

When you finish the word, raise your digit and iOS automatically adds a space so you can start typing the next word.

Two-letter words in a row, such as B. “happy”, you don’t have to swipe twice to the “P”.

Just move from “P” to “Y” and the keyboard should recognize that you want an extra letter.

Trick #2 – Create text replacements

A little-known iOS feature lets you use shortcuts to quickly type specific words and phrases that you use regularly.

Better still, it works with both iMessage and WhatsApp – so you can seriously up your texting game.

Sending SMS can take a long time, especially when you send a very long message iPhone.

But if you regularly send similar texts, there is an easy solution.

It’s possible to use Apple’s text replacement feature to type long messages quickly.

So if you frequently share an address, a phone number, a common phrase, or something else on a regular basis, it’s worth setting up a text replacement for it.

For example, you could set up a fallback so that typing “xemail” is converted to your email address.

First open Settings and then go to General.

Scroll down to Keyboards, then tap Text Replacement.

You can then create substitutions by typing in a phrase and a shortcut.

The abbreviation is what you personally type, and the phrase is what it turns into.

So keep the abbreviation short and the phrase as long as you like.

If you now enter this shortcut with the built-in Apple keyboard, it will be automatically converted to the phrase.

Make sure you choose abbreviations that are a bit obscure that you wouldn’t accidentally type in normal conversation.

Trick #3 – One-handed keyboard

Apple’s iPhones have only gotten bigger over the years, so it can sometimes be difficult to use one with one hand.

Maybe you’re holding a strap on the tube or swinging a coffee mug – it’s all the same frustration.

Luckily, you can quickly enable a one-handed keyboard on your iPhone.

First, make sure you’re running iOS 11 or later – check Settings > General > Software update.

The one-handed keyboards might have been hiding in your phone for a while, and they’re very easily accessible in any app you want to type.

First you need to go to the app you want to type and make sure the keyboard is open.

Then look in the bottom left corner and touch and hold the emoji face or the world icon – newer phones have the emoji face icon.

If you press and hold the emoji or world icon, a small “Keyboard Settings” box should appear and in the bottom row you will see three different keyboard icons.
