People hospitalized after an accident on the A283 near Pulborough

SEVERAL people in three cars involved in a pile-up on a country road have been taken to hospital.

The accident happened just before 10am this morning on the A283 between Pulborough and Storrington.

The road was closed for several hours and there were lengthy delays in clean-up efforts.

Sussex Police confirmed people in all three cars were taken to hospital with minor to serious injuries. Nobody was critically injured.

The accident happened between Church Lane and Greatham Lane.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “At 9.55am on Saturday 9 July, police responded to a call from the South East Coast Ambulance Service (Secamb) about a three car collision on the A283, Pulborough.

“Police were at the scene with colleagues from Secamb and West Sussex Fire and Rescue.

“Everyone in the three cars was taken to the hospital with minor to serious injuries, but not life-threatening.”
