PETA Defends Kylie Jenner’s Super Realistic Lion Head Dress As Carrie Johnson Leads To Backlash
Ethical Animal Protection (PETA) has defended Kylie Jenner and the lion head dress she wore at Schiaparelli’s Haute Couture fashion show over the weekend.
The nonprofit released a statement about Schiaparelli’s dress, which featured a lifelike lion head bust on Jenner’s torso, in a recent interview with Page Six Style. While Shayk walked the runway in a dress that closely resembled the one Jenner wore, Campbell wore a black faux fur coat featuring a wolf head. Model Shalom Harlow wore a snow leopard strapless dress featuring a lifelike bust of the animal’s head.
Newkirk also praised Schiaparelli for the creative use of faux fur throughout the collection, adding: “We encourage people to stick with designs that are 100% cruelty-free. human ingenuity and prevent animal suffering.”

On Monday, Shayk also shared a photo of her outfit on Instagram and expressed support for the designers who worked hard to create the dress.

PETA and Shayk’s statement came as the outfit received backlash on social media. Some critics are accusing Schiaparelli of encouraging the hunting of animals included in the collection for trophies.
Mrs Johnson, the wife of former UK prime minister Boris Johnson, condemned the collection on her personal Instagram. On her Insta Story, she shared a photo of Shayk wearing a lion cape and writing: “Damn it! Real or fake, this only promotes trophy hunting. It’s disgusting!”
As CNN reports, Schiaparelli described the animal busts as “classified forgeries” and told the publication they were made of foam plastic and other man-made materials.
