Pete Doherty was forced to cancel his upcoming gig, after falling ill with a high fever and difficulty breathing.
The Libertines singer, 42, received ‘immediate treatment’ from doctors, after the star tested negative for Covid-19 and that diagnosis was ruled out.
A statement released on behalf of the indie icon revealed that the singer has been diagnosed with a respiratory infection and that he is still being ‘closely monitored’ by his doctor.
Due to Pete’s health issues, a string of his UK gigs and gigs have been cancelled, as the Can’t Stand Me Now singer is unable to perform ‘under any circumstances’ any’.
Posted to the newlywed star’s 137,000 Instagram followers on Thursday, the announcement read: “A doctor was called to assess Peter’s condition tonight after he developed a high fever and difficulty breathing.

“Thankfully, he tested negative for COVID-19, but was diagnosed with a respiratory infection, which required immediate treatment.
“Unfortunately, he [Pete] was advised not to perform tonight under any circumstances, it is not a decision to be taken lightly, and he remains closely with his doctor.
“More updates tomorrow afternoon regarding the weekend show.

Pete was scheduled to perform at the O2 Forum in Kentish Town on Friday and Saturday.

Pete recently collaborated with French musician Frédéric Lo on the album, The Imaginary Life of Poetry & Crime, scheduled for release on March 18.

Their European and UK tour companion will kick off in Paris on May 5 and end in Cambridge on May 20.
The star’s health problems came just months after he tied the knot for the first time.
Taking to Instagram last October, the Time for Heroes singer shared a series of snaps of his idyllic wedding to Katia de Vidas on September 30, 2021.
The happy couple became husband and wife at the Domaine Saint Clair hotel in the French city of Etretat – close to where the couple have resided for the past three years.
Their wedding came just 48 hours after Pete’s poster confirmed that the star and keyboardist were planning to get married.
The music was provided by The Libertines and the couple’s band, Puta Madres, and it is reported that the father and mother were once estranged from Pete while attending their son’s wedding.
According to MailOnline, Peter John Doherty, a former Major in the Royal Signals, took his son on stage to perform one of his biggest hits with The Libertines, What A Waster.
