Former professional soccer player Peter Crouch has said that his children are more interested in his joining The Masked Dancer’s board of directors than in his extensive sports career.
he, the former striker, 41, is joining Mo Gilligan for the second series of the ITV surreal guessing game because the comedian is unavailable due to touring commitments.
He is joined by famous returning detectives, former star of the TV series Oti Mabuse, talk show host Jonathan Ross and TV presenter Davina McCall.
Comedian and host Joel Dommett will once again host the show.
Before the first episode, Crouch said: “It was madness. Completely different from anything I’ve done before.
“My kids love the show. I’ve played for England and Liverpool, I’ve played in cup finals, I’ve played in the Premier League and I’ve played in world cups, but my kids, the only thing they want to tell me is The Masked Dancer.
“They absolutely loved it. They went and watched one of the shows and absolutely loved it and that’s all they’ve been talking about since.”
Crouch says that after his football career, he is now doing things “because they look like it’s going to be fun”.
He added: “I feel in a really privileged position to be able to do that. I absolutely loved doing The Masked Dancer, it was so much fun.
“No one takes themselves too seriously and the dancers just really try. My kids are so proud of me, it’s amazing.”
Crouch said he had a “really good dynamic” with other prominent panelists.

“I am a new boy, but I have switched clubs so many times in football. Anyway, I’m pretty used to that. Everyone is very friendly,” he said.
“Jonathan and Davina, both have been in this world for so long and are absolute legends in what they do. Oti is so lovely, she is the proper dance critic.
“And Joel is amazing at what he does. He always brings a smile on everyone’s face. I really got along well with the group and had a lot of fun. “
Dommett said Crouch has “taken it seriously” since joining the council.
He added: “He was a sportsman so he wanted to win and that made him a great sportsman and also a good detective on the show. .”
Ross admitted they made Crouch do his famous robotic jump, which he debuted in 2006 while celebrating a goal.
McCall said working with the athlete made her very popular with some of her friends.
“He gave me big kudos with all the male and female football fans in my life,” she said.
Masked Dancer series two begins Saturday, September 3 at 6:30 p.m. on ITV and ITV Hub.
