Peter Kay proved he’s funnier than ever as he made his epic return to the stage this weekend after five long years.
The 48-year-old comedian and all-rounder took the stage at Manchester Centra, where he treated fans to a three-hour show featuring songs from the likes of S Club 7 and Abba.
The prankster started Dance for Life back in 2016 to raise money for Cancer Research UK and his last event was pushed back to 2020.
Peter’s latest show is one of the comedian’s first public appearances since he was forced to cancel a major tour in 2017 citing “unforeseen family circumstances”.
And after five long years, he took the stage with an epic gag that had the entire audience crying.
After arriving twenty minutes late on stage, Peter quipped, “Sorry we’re late, they’re getting in a bit slow.
“Many of you will never get another chance to dance. If you’re like me, every four years at a wedding it’s like 11 minutes before they play something modern and you sit down because you’re feeling like 100.”
Profits from the epic tour will be donated to Cancer Research UK, with the event billed as “the dance-a-thon party that will change lives”.
Last month Peter joined Instagram to promote his new tour.
Peter’s new Instagram account has just two photos – one shows a shot of the comedian and another a promotional poster for his new show.
“Additional tickets have just been released for Peter Kay’s Dance for Life in Manchester and Liverpool,” teased the caption.
It comes after Peter canceled his tour in December 2017, citing “unforeseen family circumstances” as the reason for the termination.
At the time, he took to Twitter to make the shock announcement.
“Due to unforeseen family circumstances, I deeply regret having to cancel all of my upcoming work projects.
“This unfortunately includes my upcoming standup tour, Dance for Life shows and any pending live work commitments.
“My sincere apologies. This decision was not made lightly and I am sure you will understand that my family must always come first.”
Dance For Life heads to London’s Alexandra on April 29th.
It then returns for two nights on August 19th and 20th at Liverpool’s Space by M&S Bank Arena.
