Phoebe Bridgers discusses ‘heartbreak’ amid breakup rumors with Paul Mescal

Phoebe Bridgers has offered tips on how to overcome “heartbreak” amid rumors that she and Irish actor Paul Mescal have annulled their reported engagement.

Rumors began swirling in April that the Motion Picture singer and The Ordinary star were engaged.

Then, in Mescal’s recent November interview with The Guardian, the publication claimed that the two were “supposedly engaged”. That statement was later retracted by the publication.

Now, in a new appearance on Amelia Dimoldenberg’s “Chicken Shop Date” YouTube series, Bridgers touches on the subject of “heartbreak” when asked if she has “any tips for getting through” it. .

Realistically, the Grammy-nominated artist said, “You just have to do it. You just do it, and it will end at some point, but you can’t make it end. That’s my business.”

Dimoldenberg followed up by asking, “What has suffering taught you?”

Laughing, Bridgers confessed, “I think if I figured that out, I wouldn’t be making music anymore.”

Mescal and Bridgers first started dating in 2020 after connecting via social networks, but it was not until December 2021 that the couple officially went on Instagram.

Following reports of their alleged engagement, which have now turned to rumors that they have split, Bridgers is said to have been spotted with Bo Burnham at the actor’s one-woman monologue show comedian Kate Berlant, further fueling speculation about the split.

According to Jezebel, one of their employees, who also attended a December 19 comedy show in New York City directed by Burnham, described Burnham and Bridgers’ interaction as “flirting.”

Neither Bridgers nor Mescal have publicly addressed the rumors of their engagement or split.

Separately, Kildare-born Mescal has revealed that he bought his first home.

The actor, who rose to fame in the movie The Ordinary, admits having to get a mortgage for the first time made him a little nervous.

“After (Normal People) came out, I wanted to actively move to (Ireland),” he told the Financial Times.

“And over the last two or three years, I’ve felt like thinking maybe longer term about where I’m going to spend my breaks between jobs.”

He says buying a location in Ireland is a priority because he wants to be based here.

“It’s a beautiful part of the world. Very peaceful. And the people are very kind,” he said.

He didn’t reveal exactly where he bought his new home, but admitted it was a bit overwhelming for him.

“I hope I don’t hate it in five years…I’m afraid of that,” he laughs.

“It’s just all that growing adult stuff like mortgages. It’s a bit stressful. But interesting. You have to grow up at some point.”

Mescal is currently starring in A Streetcar Named Desire in London’s West End.

“It was one of the first plays I learned properly,” he added. “And I fell in love with Tennessee Williams.

“Streetcar is going to be my favorite of his plays: it fits perfectly with the brutal sex scene in his wheelhouse, but still has beautiful…characteristics… capable of expressing the beauty of the world.” Phoebe Bridgers discusses ‘heartbreak’ amid breakup rumors with Paul Mescal
