2022 Premios Juventud takes place on Thursday (July 21) in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The annual event honors the trendiest artist in Latin entertainment, with this year’s edition – the 19th – hosted by bachata crooner Prince Royce, Grupo Firme’s Eduin Caz, Mexican pop star Danna Paola and Dominican television personality Clarissa Molina. It was broadcast live from Choliseo Jose Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico, via Univision.

The night was supported by performances by Royce, Daddy Yankee, CNCO – who surprised fans with the announcement they are breaking upPaola and J Balvin, who closed the 19th annual Premios Juventud with a medley of his biggest hits like “6AM,” “Reggaeton,” and “Ay Vamos.”

This year, 10 new categories have been added: female artist – rising, male artist – rising, my favorite actor, my favorite actress, best on-screen couple , my favorite streaming artist, best couple song, tropical hit, best metronome, and best fandom. For Premios Juventud, the winner is determined by fan votes.

Balvin was the recipient of the Agent of Change award at this year’s ceremony. The Colombian singer took the stage to receive the honor and give a heartfelt speech. “The love in Puerto Rico is amazing,” he began. “Always thanks for the vibe. Music is a means to connect with people, young people, with all those who follow us. But, you don’t always feel good. There are moments when we are in the dark but, at the end of the day, the light will return. “
