ALBION fans had plenty to celebrate as their side emerged victorious against Spanish club Espanyol last season.

A hat-trick from Leandro Trossard helped Brighton and Hove Albion win 5-1 at the Amex on Saturday afternoon.

Marc Cucurella, who reportedly made a transfer request on Friday due to interest from Manchester City, was a notable absentee from the matchday squad.

However, fellow defender Adam Webster put the hosts ahead with a short header at half-time.

His centre-back partner Lewis Dunk doubled Albion’s advantage early in the second half with a header of his own before Trossard scored the goals with a hat-trick in the 15th minute.

His first came from a volley, while the other two were rousing team moves.

Joselu withdrew one for the La Liga side but the Seagulls were comfortable winners ahead of the upcoming Premier League season. Pictures: Albion defeated Spanish club Espanyol 5-1 last season
