PIERS Morgan sparked fury after attacking the Duke and Duchess of Sussex during coverage of the Queen’s state funeral.
TV station Talk led coverage for Fox News this morning as the nation paused to pay their respects to the longest-serving monarch as her funeral took place at Westminster Abbey.
Piers, who grew up in Newick, Sussex, said Meghan is “probably a lost cause because she just wants to get rich and famous,” comparing her to Wallis Simpson – the American whose relationship with Edward VIII led to his abdication 1936
He expressed hope that the Duke of Sussex would “wake up” but admitted: “There were a few moments this week when you could have some sympathy for Prince Harry for his treatment, as opposed to his disgraced uncle Prince Andrew.”
Viewers took to social media to complain about Piers’ decision to criticize Meghan during coverage of the Queen’s funeral.
One person took to Twitter to say: “Trust Piers Morgan not to miss a chance to blame the Sussexes for being the Queen’s heartache for the last two years but nothing about the allegations against Prince Andrew and him, with whom he is friends [Jeffrey] Epstein.”
Another said the Queen’s funeral was “not the time to destroy Harry and Meghan” and said it was “inappropriate” for Piers to do so.
Meanwhile, Piers Morgan this morning praised the Queen’s procession from Westminster Hall to Westminster Abbey, describing it as “a breathtaking display of pageantry and military precision for our greatest monarch”.
The royal family publicly mourned as the nation bid farewell to the Queen and watched the late monarch leave the capital for the last time.
King Charles III was on the verge of tears during the State Funeral as the Archbishop of Canterbury described the Queen as “touching a multitude of lives” and being a “joyful” figure to many.
