Piers Morgan has exacerbated his bitter feud with former Breakfast TV rival Dan Walker by poking fun at his move to Channel 5.

Dan, who has hosted BBC Breakfast since 2016, is coming to 5 News later this year, replacing Sian Williams.

But Piers, who is starting a new show on TalkTV, couldn’t resist giving Dan a fresh pop about his move.

When asked about their rivalry, Piers said scathingly: “Dan who? Didn’t he disappear on channel 5 or something. He disappeared with his tail between his legs after we beat him in the score.

“It was actually pretty priceless when we beat the BBC on my last day [on ITV ’s Good Morning Britain] so he could never do anything about it.

“He could never beat us again. Anyway, best wishes to Dan. I hope he likes Channel 5. Is that still on TV?

Apparently yes.”

Piers also targeted GMB, which he hosted alongside Susanna Reid until receiving his back-to-back marching orders via Megan Markle.

He said ratings dropped after he left and he would try to provide a home for viewers who had tuned out.

“I mean I wouldn’t try to steal Good Morning Britain viewers, I’ll try to pick up all those who stopped watching it,” he says.

“Which, judging by the reviews, a lot of people are. So if you loved Good Morning Britain when I was there and you miss me that way, you know where to find me. There are many people who were upset about what happened. They are the ones I would be after.”

He also said that former co-star Susanna has not yet reached out to wish him luck in his new venture.

“Did she wish me luck? No, I don’t think she actually has, but there’s still time, I’m sure she will,” he said.

“We keep in touch. We had this arranged marriage, which turned out to be very successful, and then all of a sudden we got divorced. Bang. Gone.

“I saw Susanna getting ready in her curlers at 4am every day until I stopped seeing her. We write, but it was all a bit dramatic and sad. It ended silly, but their loss will be TalkTV’s gain.”

Pier’s bickering with former rival Dan usually took place on Twitter, where both had a large following.

After Piers left, Dan called him a “brilliant broadcaster” and insisted he enjoyed their “tournaments over the years.”

But he added, “It was nice to see some of the other great people and presenters have a little more room to speak.”

Dan will present the recently relaunched flagship news bulletin, 5 News, and will “host a number of new programs on the channel,” Channel 5 said.

TalkTV starts on Monday April 25th. Piers Show – dubbed Uncensored – runs at 8pm and will also air on Fox Nation in the US and Sky News Australia.

An hour-long panel discussion, The Talk, with Sharon Osbourne, will air at 9 p.m.

It will bring together five famous faces from different backgrounds and views to discuss current issues.
