Piers Morgan Twitter has been hacked with a series of offensive tweets

Piers Morgan has shut down his Twitter account after a hacker gained access to the account.

Hackers took control of Morgan’s account in the early hours of the morning and shared a series of offensive tweets.

The Sussex-born TV presenter’s account was inundated with a series of insulting tweets, which he shared with pop singer Ed Sheeran, aimed at the late Queen.

It comes as Chichester MP Gillian Keegan’s Twitter account has apparently been hacked.

It was seen responding to tweets and sharing a link for a number of cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin and Dogecoin.

While the Chichester MP’s banner remained the same, tweets impersonating Ms Keegan included links to a website promoting the online currency.

All mentions of Ms Keegan in her Twitter bio, photo and banner have now been removed.

The education minister’s account was apparently hacked just before 7.30pm on Christmas Day, when the tweets began to appear.

According to reports, hackers gained access to information of 400,000,000 Twitter users in January this year.

Morgan’s account also had a name change, with the hacker changing the account’s title to “lol” and later “Michael.”
