When ratings for his new show plummeted after a week of airing, Piers Morgan urged the nation to tune in to the TalkTV show.

The new talk show, Piers Morgan: Uncensored, is TalkTV’s main show, following the channel’s launch on April 25.

Episode one drew 316,800 viewers with a clash between Piers and former US President Donald Trump, leaving the politician excluded from the interview after a heated exchange.

However, ratings dropped to an average of 61,700 viewers a week later on Monday (May 2).

Posting a screenshot of a statement from Trump on Instagram, Piers wrote “[laughing emoji] In fact, Donald, it’s just getting started… again thanks for a great interview (+ ratings!) – I couldn’t have wished for a better premiere. When we calm down, let’s do it again.”

After his episode premiered, Trump’s statement read, “Ratings for Piers Morgan interview with me are great!

“Unfortunately, after that interview, his show was completely destroyed because of the fake story he was trying to portray.

“The fact is, I got a new up close look at Piers, and he no longer had what was needed. It’s over for him! ”

Former Good Morning Britain host Piers has frequently posted about his show on social media, with newspaper pages, posters and even a clip from Gogglebox posted on his Instagram profile when he made his show public.

While still beating Sky News and GB News in its hour-long span, even with an 80% drop in viewership, he revisited Instagram to encourage people to watch.

“Incredible achievement for a brand new show on a brand new network. Lots of work to do, but very encouraging. Tune in at 8pm tonight! ”

After TalkTV launched, Piers interviewed many guests, including actors Brian Cox, Caitlyn Jenner and after defending the title against Dillian Whyte, world heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury.
