Pink wins Supreme Court victory in ‘irrelevant’ new music video – Billboard

For her first music video in over a year, P! nk is tackling nearly every controversial issue in American politics today.

On Friday (July 15), P! Nk released her new single, “Irrelevant”, just one day after the announcement. Written and produced by Ian Fitchuk and the singer himself, “Irrelevant” is a direct response to the complex social ills afflicting the United States, specifically the Supreme Court’s decision to overturned Roe v. Wade. “Girls just want power/So why do we have to fight,” she asks during the song’s bridge beat.

P! nk released the accompanying music video for the song on Monday (July 18). Clip by P! Directed by Nk and Brad Comfort, combining footage of various protests and key recent political moments with clips of P! nk intimately recorded the song himself in the studio. Though she’s known for her high-flying acrobatic performances, the star delivers an equally compelling performance with her heartbreaking delivery of lyrics.

The chilling image captures a crisscrossing line between past and present struggles for justice. Images of protests from the Civil Rights Movement have flowed into videos of marches in support of #MeToo, LGBTQIA+ rights, Black Lives Matter and calls for an end to gun violence.
