Earlier this year, Nintendo announced its intention to open Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood, following the resounding success of its debut theme park in Osaka, Japan.

It looks like development on the new attraction is progressing well, thanks to a recent video captured by theme park enthusiast Ethan Becker (thanks, Theme Park Tribune!). From the screenshots you can see that the desert area pyramids appear to be complete, but perhaps more interestingly, you can clearly see a couple of installed piranha plants which are currently wrapped to protect their pretty heads.

Bowser’s Castle also looks pretty good, with all three main towers fully installed. Overall, while the park looks fairly similar to the Japanese version, it looks like some of the aesthetic aspects – like the addition of the pyramids – will set the Hollywood theme park apart from its Osaka sibling.

We will keep a close eye on the development of the park over the coming weeks and months. We still have some time until completion, however, as Nintendo sets a customer opening window for 2023.
