Two people have been killed in a plane crash after a small plane crashed into a supermarket in Mexico.

The crash occurred in the Azteca neighborhood of the city of Temixco.

The governor of Cuauhtémoc Blanco reported that emergency services were providing care on site at the Bodega Aurrerá supermarket.

Mexican media Diario de Morelos tweeted: “The first photos of the interior of Bodega Aurrerá are circulating after the plane crash.

“The preliminary balance is 2 dead and at least 3 injured.”

There have also been reports of a potential risk of explosion following a fuel spill.

Images from the scene show masses of debris piled high as the building is partially destroyed – with rescuers at the scene looking for survivors.
