Plans to increase parking fees | The Argos

PLANS to increase parking charges at several Horsham car parks are to be discussed by councillors.

Proposed increases at North Street car park, Southwater Country Park, The Forum, Piries Place and Swan Walk will be on the agenda at a cabinet meeting on Thursday (July 21).

The council approved an increase in parking fees in February after losing income during the pandemic.

A report to the committee said: “Expanding the increases to these additional three areas will ensure rates remain consistent and fair – it will maximize revenue from the introduction of new rates and maintain a good customer experience.”

If the full council agrees, the changes will mean a 12.5 per cent increase in the four-hour fare at North Street and a 10 per cent increase in all-day passes at The Forum, Piries Place and Swan Walk.

Winter weekend rates at Southwater Country Park are aligning with summer rates – increases by a few pence per hour up to £1 more for a day pass.

If approved, the changes would be introduced in November and are expected to add £22,500 in revenue to the 2022/23 revenue budget.
