PlayStation VR2 launch window game, The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR, delayed to March

The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR has been postponed.

PlayStation revealed 11 new PlayStation VR2 games for November, including a new entry in Supermassive Games’ The Dark Pictures anthology series called Switchback VR. Supermassive released Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, a rail shooter for PlayStation VR, in 2016, and Switchback VR is its spiritual successor. When Switchback VR was unveiled late last year, there was no official release date associated with it – PlayStation just referred to it as the title of the PSVR2 launch window.

Nonetheless, Supermassive Games will release Switchback VR later than expected as it has been pushed back to March 16th. It’s a short delay considering PSVR2 launches on February 22 and every game in its launch window was likely due around that time. As for why, Supermassive Games says it needs more time to polish the rail shooter.

“Switchback VR is Supermassive Games’ most ambitious VR project to date, taking players through 5 sprawling worlds that branch through various terror-filled rollercoaster routes based on the Dark Pictures franchise,” the Switchback said in a statement VR teams. “It has always been our goal to release the new PSVR 2 headset in the launch window, but it’s also very important to us that you, the gamer, get the most polished and terrifying experience possible when you sign up for your first Buckle up for a ride in Switchback VR.

“With this in mind, we have made the difficult decision to set a new launch date of March 16, 2023. Thank you for all your excitement and patience – it truly means the world to us. We can’t wait to reveal more about our uncanny Coaster for Hell and be sure to check out this space for our new gameplay features video coming very soon.”

As you can see, alongside this news that Switchback VR has been delayed, is the revelation that we should soon learn more about the game in a new video dedicated to gameplay features.

While you wait for that video, check out the full PSVR2 launch window lineup here.
